The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and its replacement the new Equality Act 2010 safeguard disabled people’s rights regarding the way they receive goods and access facilities and services. Since October 2004, service providers and employers have had duties to ensure that disabled people can access their services and both new and existing premises may require physical alterations to improve access for the disabled.
Up to Director level, Surveying Solutions staff have received formal training in Access Consultancy. We have carried out many access audits to identify barriers to disabled access to many of our clients’ buildings. We provide recommendations for improvements and can manage the building works required, including obtaining statutory approvals with sometimes delicate negotiations with Planning Authorities.
